World Baking Day – May 2019

Today we have been joining in with some baking activities, from real cooking to role-play cooking for world baking day.

We first made our own fruit flapjacks for our snack. They turned out really well and the children enjoyed measuring out the ingredient and mixing them up.

Ingredient

250g Butter
200g Brown Sugar
500g Jumbo Rolled Oats
5 tbs Golden Syrup

Method

Place butter in a pan and melt on the hob, mix in the rest of the ingredients. Place on a baking tray or glass dish and put in the oven for 20 minutes (depending on the thickness reduce or add time).

We removed ours from the glass dish as soon as it came out of the oven this allowed us to cut it up while it was hot.

For a short time we watched Little Cook Big Cook on YouTube. This was a good time to set up the play room.

We use what skills we learnt to create our own recipes. We looked at some delicious treats from the cooking books.

At our little tea party we share cakes with each other and pouring drinks for one another.
