Collection and Non-Collection of Children

Only adults named on child information sheets will be able to collect children, in the event that I have not met any authorised adults named, the child’s collection password must be given. Parents must inform me when anyone other than themselves will be collecting the child.

If parents are divorced or separated, parents do not lose their rights of contact unless a Court Order has been issued, therefore it is crucial that I am informed of this. I do not have the right to prevent a divorced parent from collecting their child if a Court Order is not in place.

In the event that you have been out for a celebration and had alcoholic drinks I will ask if you can arrange for someone else to collect the child especially if you plan on driving.  (please see Alcohol, drugs and Smoking policy)

Non collection of children

In the event that a child is not collected by an authorised adult, I will ensure the child receives a high standard of care in order to cause as little distress as possible until the child is collected by the parents, emergency contacts or the local authority.

If a child is not collected within 30 minutes of their contracted collection time, and I haven’t been informed, I will try to contact the parent, on the numbers provided on the child information sheet. Then I will try contacting the emergency contact numbers. If I am unable to contact anyone from the contact numbers provided 1 hour from the agreed collection time, unless another collection time has been agreed, I will then contact the Local authority duty social worker.
